Residents of the Niagara Region are encouraged to utilize the services provided by all of the Region’s Landfill Sites.

More than ONE (1) Containers or Bags


Properties with a ONE (1) container or bag limit may purchase a garbage tag for each additional garbage container or bag placed at the curb for collection over this limit. Containers, bags and bundles must weigh 22.7 kg (50 lbs) or less and measure no more than 90 cm (36”) by 60 cm (24”) in diameter. Place the tag around the neck of each additional bag or on top of the materials placed in each additional container. Tags should not be placed directly on garbage cans.

Bulky & White Goods Collection


To arrange for your bulky and white goods to be collected, call Emterra Environmental at 905-227-7771 at least 2 working days prior to your regular garbage collection day. Some bulky and white goods include: box spring and mattress, couch, television, furniture, appliances (stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, air conditioner, etc.). Items not acceptable for collection include: construction, demolition and renovation materials (i.e. doors, fencing, wood, siding, cupboards, etc.), automotive parts (i.e. tires, engines, etc.). Refrigeration units (i.e. refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner) placed out for collection, must have a CFC removal sticker affixed to the unit prior to being collected. Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed or secured to avoid any potential danger.

Note: Garbage Tags are available at Avondale, Avon Mart and Dollar Mart stores across the Niagara Region at the cost of $2.00 each. CFC removal stickers are available for $20.00 each.
