Wainfleet Stays Safe as Ontario Reopens
Wainfleet, ON – As Ontario gradually reopens it’s economy, local residents are being encouraged to continue to follow the advice of public health officials for their safety and the safety of all members of the community.
Dr. David Williams, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health has said that while the best defence continues to be maintaining 2 meters of social distance with anyone outside their household, hand hygiene and staying at home if feeling ill. Building on this message however, the Ministry of Health has specific recommendations on face coverings used in public where physical distancing is not possible, such as a small markets of venues.
Medical, surgical and N95 masks, should only be used by health care or direct care workers, first responders and those who are ill and must leave their home for essential reasons (ie. receiving medical care, pick up of medication or groceries). Children under two years old or those with breathing issues should not use facial covers.
Going forward, all levels of government, in conjuctions with public health officials will continue to monitor the key health indicators in A Framework to Reopening our Province to balance the reopening strategy with changing public health needs.
All Canadians continue to be required, by federal law, to self-isolate for 14 days when returning home from international travel.

“Putting up with some inconvenience and changing how we do things a little bit has helped us to stay fairly safe in Wainfleet so far. We are treating this situation very seriously but I’m confident that if we follow public health’s direction, pull together and use some common sense, we will get through this together as a community.” ~ Mayor Kevin Gibson
