Code of Conduct
The Council of the Township of Wainfleet approved a code of conduct for Members of Council. The code of conduct is intended to demonstrate a commitment to the public that Members will act with integrity, fairness, consistency, respect and within the law without prejudice or bias.

The Municipal Act enables a municipality to appoint an Integrity Commissioner who reports to council and is responsible for performing in an independent manner the functions assigned by the municipality with respect to any or all of the following:

Complaint Process |
Filing a ComplaintA complaint that a Member has contravened the Code of Conduct may be initiated by any person, any Member of Council, or by Council as a whole. Completed complaint forms are submitted to the Clerk of the Township, together with the fee and the Clerk shall forward complaint to the Integrity Commissioner. Please note that the complaint shall be in the form of a sworn affidavit prior to submitting to the Clerk. View the complaint form Refundable FeeA complainant shall pay to the Clerk of the Township a refundable fee in the amount of $100.00 if they are an infrequent complainant, or in the amount of $500.00 if they are a frequent complainant, upon filing of a complaint, which, unless the Integrity Commissioner concludes that the complaint is frivolous, vexatious, or not made in good faith, the fee shall be refunded to the complainant when the Integrity Commissioner files their report. |
