Lottery Licences
A lottery scheme exists when someone gives consideration (payment) for a chance to win a prize. It is illegal to operate a lottery scheme without a licence. The Township will only issue to charitable or non-profit organizations as defined by the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario, who meet all eligibility requirements.

If the Township has never licensed your organization, you must first complete an eligibility review. This will take five to seven business days. Once completed and the Township is satisfied that your organization meets all eligibility requirements, you will be notified and may begin to apply for lottery licenses. Municipalities that issue licences must ensure that applicants are eligible for lottery licences and remain satisfied that licensees continue to meet the requirements of the Criminal Code (Canada), the Order-in-Council and all applicable terms and conditions of their licences. |
Fees |
The lottery licence fee will be 3% of the prize value for a raffle, bazaar, break open ticket and regular bingo lotteries. All lottery licence fees are payable by cheque drawn on the lottery trust account from the charitable organization that is applying for the licence. |

Reporting |
Organizations must submit all financial reports within thirty days of the event. Failure to submit a report within this timeframe will result in the suspension of lottery licensing privileges. Financial reports must include copies of all deposit slips and receipts related to the event, list of winners and a list of donated prizes. Organizations are also responsible for submitting verified annual financial statements within 180 days of the organization's fiscal year-end. |
