Township of Wainfleet Municipal By-law Enforcement Officers investigate all formal complaints regarding by-law violations. We may seek voluntary compliance, issue penalties or lay charges where appropriate.
At the Township we encourage valid complaints as we do not have the resources to investigate frivolous or malicious complaints. Council is not involved in any way with the sanctioning of an investigation or making of a decision on who shall be investigated. The Townships holds the position of not enforcing Civil matters as these are not our jurisdiction. (Property line disputes, contract breaches, landlord/tenant issues, etc).
For details on enforcement matters reference the Township's Common By-laws page.
Complaints
All formal complaints are confidential, unless a Justice of the Peace or a judge deems that it is necessary to make the complaint information public in deciding a case before the courts.
We conduct inspections when we receive a completed complaint form.
